When filled to the maximum level, the Harmony River Flush Mount holds roughly 15 gallons of water. You'll find a fill line marked inside the tank that indicates the proper maximum level.
We recommend filling the water feature while it's turned off. Here's why: if you fill the tank while the pump is running and then shut it down shortly after, the water that was up in the feature drains back down into the tank. That can leave you with more water than the reservoir was designed to hold and potentially cause an overflow. Filling while the unit is off ensures you're measuring the true resting water level.
We always recommend distilled water. Because it contains no minerals, it keeps mineral buildup out of the feature and significantly extends its lifespan—often for many years. If distilled water isn't practical for your situation, that's perfectly fine; you'll simply want to clean the feature a little more often to keep hard water deposits from accumulating. Most customers clean their water feature one to two times per year.
