AUTO FILL
The auto-fill is an optional upgrade that automatically maintains the water level in the tray. Water sensors in the feature monitor the level and signal a small control box, which opens an electric valve to draw water from a dedicated supply line as evaporation lowers the level.
The main benefit is pump protection. The most common cause of pump failure is running with the water level too low to keep the pump submerged and cool. The auto-fill removes that risk by holding the level consistent.
Installation note: On many of our features the control box can be concealed within the feature itself. Smaller features don't have room for it, so the installation must accommodate the box elsewhere — inside the wall, in an adjacent room, or another accessible nearby location. This should be planned before installation begins.
Water source: Salt-softened (ion-exchange) water is not an approved source. A water feature is a recirculating closed system, so as water evaporates dissolved solids concentrate and cause corrosion. Filtration is recommended but not required — we prefer a high-quality, high-capacity RO system over a distiller. The filtration system is purchased and maintained by the customer through their own plumber; Adagio supplies the auto-fill and specifies how the RO must be sized, but is not responsible for water quality.
AUTO FILL WITH GRAVITY DRAIN
This adds a gravity drain line, giving the tray a discharge path so excess water flows out to drain rather than overflowing. Because the drain is gravity-fed, the discharge point must sit below the feature and be routed by the customer's plumber.
A drain also makes periodic water exchange practical — draining some volume and letting the auto-fill replace it keeps dissolved solids from concentrating between cleanings.
Note: An auto-fill does not eliminate maintenance. Still drain and wipe the liner about twice a year, and check the level periodically to confirm the system is working.
