If your pump runs for a few minutes and then shuts off, this is a sign the pump is failing and will need to be replaced.
The most common cause is running the pump with the water level too low. The pump relies on being fully submerged to stay cool. If it is ever run dry or only partially submerged, even briefly, it will overheat. Repeated overheating damages the pump permanently, and once this cycling starts it will not correct itself.
To prevent this:
- Always keep the water level above the top of the pump so it stays completely covered and can run cool. Also keep the level below the top of the black liner to avoid seepage between the liner and trim.
- Check the water level regularly, as evaporation will gradually lower it. Refill as needed, and only while the feature is off.
- Pour water onto the middle section of the surface just above the tray when filling.
Important: The pump must remain fully submerged at all times. Operating a dry or partially dry pump will cause it to burn out and voids the pump warranty.
If your water level has been maintained correctly and the pump is still cycling on and off, contact Adagio and we can help you get a replacement pump.
