Yes, the Regal Falls can absolutely be installed outdoors, and it makes a stunning backyard centerpiece. All of our water features are built for both indoor and outdoor use. A few things will help it look and run its best outside:
• Outdoor hood cover – For outdoor installs we recommend adding the outdoor hood cover. It protects the water distribution, light bar, and mechanicals from rain and debris.
• Placement – We recommend a semi-protected spot, such as under an awning, pergola, or covered patio, rather than full open exposure.
• Mounting wall – The feature ships with a wall bracket and hardware for a wood-stud wall (studs 16" on center). If your exterior wall is brick, stucco over masonry, block, or metal studs, you may need additional mounting hardware.
• Electrical – A flush-mount outlet behind the feature on a wall switch works great. Outdoor circuits should have GFCI protection; we recommend a GFCI breaker at the panel rather than a GFCI outlet behind the feature.
• Winter – If temperatures will drop below freezing, drain the feature completely and let it dry for a week or two beforehand. Please don't use antifreeze or freeze-prevention chemicals, as they can damage the feature.
• Water level – Evaporation is higher outdoors, so our auto-fill and gravity drain upgrade is a convenient option to keep the water level topped off automatically. Keeping leaves and plant debris out of the basin will also help keep the water clear.
Our powder-coated trim holds up well outdoors, though after years of sun exposure some components may show slight, normal discoloration.
